History
The Homeless Advocacy Coalition opened Albuquerque Opportunity
Center in April 2004. In that month ownership and management of the AOC
was transferred to Metropolitan Homelessness Project and thus began the AOC’s service to homeless men in Albuquerque.
Albuquerque Opportunity Center completed its first full year of
operation in 2005 and earned a reputation for providing
high-quality, safe, emergency shelter. The agency expanded its
capacity for emergency shelter from 54 to 71 beds. Every night, AOC
maintains an occupancy rate above 90%.
